Simon Oliver: Certified Autodesk Instructor

Simon Oliver AutoCAD Training

Pre 1987

Technical drawing using a drawing board is rarely taught in schools today if at all but I was fortunate to have learnt this skill in the early 1980's at my secondary school in Northampton.

This stood me in good stead along with attending a Building and Civil Engineering course at my local technical college in Northampton.

The ability to read and interpret the layout of a technical drawing has enabled me to understand things like first/third angle projection, isometric and perspective drawing along with BS308.

A timely opportunity to start using a computer rather than a drawing board to create, edit and print a drawing proved too good an opportunity to turn down...

1987 - 1992

I first became involved with AutoCAD in 1987 via a local architectural practice in Northampton. The practice bought AutoCAD when it first arrived in this country and started to offer drafting, support and training services to other people thinking of buying it for themselves.

They set up a separate company in Northampton to become AutoCAD main dealers selling the full range of software and hardware products associated with AutoCAD and I joined the newly formed company and spent the first twelve months as a CAD Technician producing drawings and creating symbols libraries for local companies.

In total, I spent over four years with them progressing through the company carrying out training, technical support and sales of AutoCAD systems to companies nationwide and then worked a further year with another AutoCAD main dealer.

1992 - Today

The company I run today was founded in August 1992 with the aim of utilising the knowledge and expertise gained to date.

All services provided are flexible, varied and tailored in terms of content, duration and cost.

Authorisation to provide these services is gained through passing the necessary examinations along with independently gained City and Guilds training qualifications

You will therefore benefit from an expert evaluation of your needs as AutoCAD users and in turn have those needs addressed by receiving the necessary help, advice and training.
